The newest season ofWoW,Season of Discovery, adds tons of new Class Runes that must be discovered. The first Shaman-specific rune you’re able to find is Overload. This guide will tell you everything you need to know about the Shaman Rune Overload, including where to find the Shaman Overload Rune in Season of Discovery.
As an Orc or Troll Shaman, you will unlock a quest at Level 2 called Icons of Power. You can pick up the quest from Shikrik located in the little camp where you spawn in Durotar. Once you have this quest, go and kill Scorpid Workers located just northeast of where you spawn. After a few kills one will drop a quest item called Dyadic Icon.
Equip the Dyadic Icon in your Totem Slot, and now the fun starts. You need to take some form of Nature Damage. Any Nature Damage at all will give you a stack on your Dyadic Icon. The easiest way to build these stacks is to get in combat with a Scorpid Worker and just stand there until he puts the poison DoT on you. Every tick of it will give you a stack, and once you hit 10 stacks you will receive the Inspired buff. At this point, you may right-click the Dyadic Icon in your Totem Slot and you will learn the Shaman Overload Rune. At this point you can also turn in the Icons of Power quest.
Keep in mind that if you unequip the Totem at any point, you will lose your stacks and Inspired buff, so ensure you are done with the quest. Another option if you don’t want to wait for the Scorpid Worker to poison you is to duel with a Hunter who can use Serpent Sting on you. This will also build the stacks quickly.
Overload can be enchanted onto the Chest Slot, and is a pretty powerful rune. It requires Level 1 and can be used on Shaman only. Here is what Overload does:
Gives your Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, Chain Heal, Healing Wave, and Lava Burst spells a 33% chance to cast a second, similar spell on the same target at no additional cost that causes half damage or healing and no threat.
Now that you know how to complete the Icons of Power quest and unlock the Shaman Overload Rune, you should have an easier time killing enemies this early in Season of Discovery.
