Legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk confirmed during a recent interview that a new project between him and Activision has been in talks. This news is rolling by as we reach the 25th anniversary of thePro Skaterseries later this month; fingers crossed a newTony Hawkgame is in the works.

“I can tell you I’ve been talking to Activision again, which is insanely exciting,” Hawk said toMythical Kitchen. “We’re working on something.”

Tony Hawk says new project is in the works.

Unfortunately, the pro-skating legend doesn’t expand beyond that, but notes it’s the first time he’s acknowledged it publicly and something “fans will truly appreciate.”

The 25th anniversary of the series occurs on September 29, so ifTony Hawk and Activisionhave an Ollie cooking in the future, we’ll likely hear about it then. Strangely, Activision has also updated the banner image of theTony Hawk Pro SkaterX account, celebrating the 25th anniversary, leading fans to speculate if something is in the works.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater might be coming back.

During the interview, Hawk explained the origins of the series with him playing an early version of the game with Bruce Willis riding a skateboard. He was approached by Activision after the company heard about Hawk pitching a skateboarding game to multiple companies around a year before. The rest is history as thePro Skaterseries has sold over $1.4 billion in copies, according to theofficial Tony Hawk website.

It’s funny to hear how successful the series became because at one point while pitching a project based on this sport to publishers, Hawk was told, according to his Mythical Kitchen interview, “Skateboarding isn’t even popular; why would we make a video game with skateboarding?”
