A teaser at the end of the 2022 THQ Nordic Digital Showcase hinted a newSouth Parkgame was coming. Naturally, it was assumed that it would be the next installment in the popularSouth ParkRPG series. However, it appears that won’t be the case.
During the2023 THQ Nordic Digital Showcase,South Park: Snow Daywas officially revealed. Players will battle through the snow-piled streets ofSouth Parkwith up to three friends. Apparently, the highlight feature is thatSouth Parkwill be in 3D, though I’m not sure that’s a good thing.
I think I’d rather have another 2D RPG
Even thoughSouth Park: The Stick of TruthandSouth Park: Fractured but Wholeweren’t for everyone, I could definitely appreciate what they were going for. A comical adventure in the world ofSouth Parkintended for fans of the show. Also, there’s something to the 2D charm and honestly, it looks kinda goofy in 3D.
In fact, the trailer reminded me a lot of theSouth Parkgame on N64. Obviously with more modern visuals, but the same sort of goofy 3D graphics and gameplay.
No details on the actual game were provided other than it will be 3D and feature co-op multiplayer. It kind of looks similar toFat Princessto me, but it’s hard to really tell until we know more.
South Park: Snow Daywill release in 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
