The PS4’s unexpected system seller
BeforeBloodbornewas released on PS4 a few months ago, Sony had optimistic expectations for how the game would perform. Apparently, even going in with optimistic expectations for its performance, Sony were surprised by how wellBloodborneperformed when it was released.
Speaking toMCV, Sony UK Managing Director Fergal Gara said“It did surprise us. We had expectations to do well. We looked at the Souls series as a frame of reference, and we thought we could do better than that. We did—and then some. Relative to some of our sister territories, we were being quite ambitious, but even that proved to be conservative.”
While Gara did not share any new sales numbers, we know that last monthBloodbornewas announced to havesold more than one million copies worldwide. So, a hardcore focused new IP from an established creator can apparently do well on PS4, That’s a good precedent to set, let’s see a few more of those please Sony.
