You have to buy real products to get the new DLC

SimCity’slatest stunt sees a tie-in with Crest and Oral-B tooth products, where if you buy specially marked packages of toothpaste and stuff, you’ll be given a code to the new Attractions Set downloadable content.

So what’s in the Attractions Set? Five big attractions like a giant garden gnome, the world’s largest ball of twine, and other dumb stuff that will add happiness to low wealth Sims, and bring in more tourists to your city. Want it? Well the only way you can get the DLC is by purchasing actual Crest or Oral-B products as EA isn’t selling this direct.

Some people are upset by this news, while others (like me) don’t really care. Yeah, it’s dumb but it’s for stuff I wouldn’t even want to place in my city. Granted, I do seeBen Kuchera’s pointat howSimCitywas designed in a way to sell to advertisers more than anything else.

And yes, the header image is totally from the promotion page. Yes, that’s an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. No,SimCitywasn’t just announced for consoles by Crest toothpaste. Yes, someone was paid to make this graphic and completely f*cked up.
