Quantic Dream continued to make me wonder how much it’s angling for a job in movies last night with itsDark Sorcerertech demo. This looked genuinely incredible at the beginning, before devolving into something I felt was a waste. Funny, admittedly, but a waste.

Anyway, here’s the full tech demo, a full twelve minutes that drags the same joke on for quite a bit. It’s visually impressive stuff, but all I can think of is how much I want to see this stuff in a real game as opposed to an overly long skit. Then again, it’s kind of worth it for the Demon, who turns out to be even more charming than Maurice the Goblin.

I guess sorcerers and goblins are a bit outside Quantic Dream’s preferred realm, but that just makes me all the more eager to see what they could do with the concept. The writing here was genuinely good — something I’m always nailing the studio on — and the sorcerer could be an excellent villain or anti-hero.

Here’s hoping this is a prelude to something more genuine, like the oldHeavy Raintech demo was.
