We did get amiibo though!

As soon as theZelda: Tears of the Kingdomsegment hit in the June 2023 Nintendo Direct, my whole body froze. Is this it? What a time to announce a DLC tease forTears of the Kingdom, just as the game is riding high. Well, it wasn’t time, and Nintendo’s marketing team is likely plugging away at data to find out when that might be. For now, we got amiibo.Cool amiibo(just look at that Zelda one!)! But amiibo nonetheless.

That’s right,we did not get aTears of the KingdomDLC announcementat the June 2023 Nintendo Direct. Let’s talk about that real quick, with your vague spoiler shield on.

What could the inevitableTears of the KingdomDLC bring to the table?

Given howTears of the Kingdomended (which we talk about at length here), the sky (ha!) really is the limit for the DLC. Any number of looming or lurking threats can creep up, and bringing back an old antagonist or some sort of world-colliding event with timeline implications would be incredibly easy to do.

Hopefully, the DLC is a bit more fleshed out than theBreath of the Wildadd-ons, which were a bit too “challenge room-ey” for a lot of folks (myself included on replays).

Call me old-fashioned, but give me a classicZeldaside story that’s fully campaign-oriented, with a new region, and I’ll be happy. One is good enough!
