Nier Re[in]carnation to launch in February 2021

Three years on from its initial release,NieR: Automatais still shifting units. Publisher Square Enix announced that its emotional tale of robo-dystopia has successfully passed the milestone of a recorded five million shipments and digital sales since its launch back in February 2017.

Available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, (though the latter did require a variety of fan fixes to achieve a stable state),NieR: Automatais a spin-off from theDrakengardseries and tells the story of a miserable proxy war between alien forces and the dwindling army of human-created androids left defending what remains of the planet.NieR: Automatablends deep RPG mechanics with developer Platinum Games’ trademark hack ‘n’ slash action.

The nextNieRproject to see the light of day will be mobile titleNieR Re[in]carnation,which will launch on iOS and Android platforms in Japan in February. The “story heavy” free-to-play title will tell the story of a young amnesiac protagonist – “White Girl” – who is guided through a devastated city by a ghostly apparition known as “Mama.” A new trailer, which you’re able to check out below, promotes a crossover event that will see the heroes ofNier: Automataappear in the new mobile game. A worldwide release is also planned for 2021.
