DLC fit for a king (of preorders)

This March 5th, Americans will be gettingthe totally bitchin’-lookingNaruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3first, whereas the rest of the world gets theirs on March 8th. That’s a clear advantage, one might say. However, when we go by thetruly infalliblebarometer of fortune known as “preorder DLC”, the power is clearly stacked in nations that at some point recognized a monarch, in this case Japan, Australia, and most of Europe.

According Facebook reveals from Namco Bandai and intrepid image-hunting fromthe fine folks at Saiyan Island, Japanese players will score two Naruto costumes fashioned afterDragon Ball Z‘s Goku and a samurai, a swimsuit costume for Sakura, an ANBU uniform for Kakashi, and alternate-universe renditions of Hinata and Sasuke as seen in theNaruto: Road to Ninjamovie. Like Japan, Europe and Australia get theDragon Ball Zand samurai costumes, but in place of the other four receive a swimsuit for Tsunade, a schoolgirl outfit for Sakura, a kimono for Sasuke, and an ANBU uniform for Itachi.

And for Americans? Only theDragon Ballcostume has been confirmed so far. Do you regret rebelling against the crown now?! Then again, I’d say the smart money’s on this DLC popping up for North American gamers in the form of retailer-exclusive handouts from the likes of GameStop, Best Buy, and others, rather than segregating by region. With a month to go until release day, there’s a lot of time for Namco Bandai and its retail partners to work things out.
