In case you hadn’t heard, Atari is bringing Midway’s oldReady 2 Rumbleseries back. The new entry in the franchise is calledReady 2 Rumble Revolution, and it’ll be out on the Wii in March. It’s being developed by syn Sophia (formerly AKI), the people behind games like the Nintendo 64’sWWF No MercyandDef Jam Vendettaon the PlayStation 2 and GameCube.Unfortunately,R2R Revolutiondoesn’t look like it’s going to live up to the pedigree of its predecessors; the game has none of the classic characters you might remember — instead, it features a cast of twenty original fighters, all of whom are caricatures of famous figures from sports, music, and movies. The new trailer above introduces The Impersonator (an obvious Elvis Presley parody) and Dragon Chew (Bruce Lee), the latter of which is easily one of the most retarded names I’ve ever seen in a videogame. Each character has two unique taunts and a “Rumble Mode” (i.e., a special). The Impersonator can do “The Shimmy” and “The Hip Thruster,” and his special is “The Elvis Air Guitar.” Meanwhile, Dragon Chew’s got “The Keep Your Nose Clean” and “The Mocking Mantis”; his special is called “Dragon Thunder Storm.” I mean, really? If you’re interested in more details — which I find highly unlikely — you can check outHamza’s previewfrom the day the game was announced last December. But as far as I’m concerned … no Afro Thunder, no sale!
