If you’ve been a part ofThe Sims 4community for a little while, then you’ve likely heard of the Rags to Riches Challenge created by community favorite James Turner. Start with nothing and build up to becoming wealthy, it’s a pretty simple concept.

With the addition of theBusinesses and Hobbiesexpansion pack forThe Sims 4, James has done what he does best and has created a new challenge. It’s not official yet, at least not by the standards of the rules being uploaded to his website, but he’s currently working his way through his own playthrough, and I’ve absorbed all the details.

Rags to Businesses rules in The Sims 4

If you’re familiar with the Rags to Riches challenge rules, then you’re able to pretty much guess how to complete this challenge, but there are a couple of twists that are special to this variation of the challenge:

As of yet, there is no official end point to this challenge, so you’re free to choose when you feel like you’ve achieved everything that you want to achieve. Maybe it can be when your business reaches five-stars, or perhaps you need to earn 100,000 Simoleons through your business.

How to complete the Rags to Businesses challenge in The Sims 4

When attempting this challenge, there are a couple of key things to bear in mind:

How you go about completing the challenge depends on where you set up shop, what you want your shop to do, and how quickly you want to complete the challenge.

Sleeping on a bench in The Sims 4

If you set up shop in Nordhaven itself, you could focus on Pottery as James has in his playthrough. This would allow you to use the Pottery Wheels at the museum in the north of the town to craft Pottery to sell. Everything you want to make will cost money (20 Simoleons minimum), so you’ll need to juggle your money to verify you can afford to open the next day and sell what you’ve made.

Similarly, you’ll need to pay attention to how much items cost that can help you complete the challenge. Aside from the items you need to simply survive, such as a bed and toilet, you’ll need to buy equipment such as a Pottery Wheel and Kiln to sustain your business. It’s all about juggling, but you’ll get there.
