No More Robots has announced that Cheesemaker’s ghostly bathhouse game, Spirittea is set to release on November 13 for Switch, Xbox (on GamePass), and PC. Alongside the announcement is an 8-minutein-depth lookat the game.

Spiritteais a management quest game (thinkStardew Valley) inspired by Studio Ghibli’sSpirited Away. You play as a writer, trying to get some peace to pen your next novel. Drinking from the wrong teapot causes the spirit realm to fold over into reality. You’re given thekeys to a bathhouse, where you then scrub down spirits and help them relax.

Cheesemaker describesSpiritteaas a “life sim, management game, and detective game all in one.” Essentially, that means you help the townsfolk exorcise the ghosts that are bothering them, which you then try to accommodate within your bathhouse. The bathhouse can be upgraded, which is necessary to attract some of the spirits. Beyond that is a life simulator with four seasons that affect what quests you can accomplish.

This might be exactly what I need right now. Management games tend to be my go-to for relaxation. I can definitely dig theMother 3-style art, though it’s a bit jarring when a character portrait comes up, and they’re much more realistically drawn. Nonetheless, theSpirited Awayinfluence is obvious, and that’s something I can totally dig. I think I’ll probably play this one.
