Fortnight: Deep Freeze Bundle

Fortnite, a free-to-play game, will be on store shelves this holiday for $30. Warner Bros. and Epic are teaming up to produceFortnite: Deep Freeze Bundle — a physical edition for PS4, Switch, and Xbox One that will release on November 13.

The $30 price point is justified via in-game cosmetics and currency. It comes with the Deep Freeze items which are: Frostbite Outfit, Cold Front Glider, Chill-Axe Pickaxe, and Freezing Point Back Bling.Fortnite‘s Legendary outfits cost 2,000 V-Bucks ($20). The Deep Freeze Bundle also has 1,000 V-Bucks included ($10). Together, the cosmetics and the V-Bucks seem to add up to a $30 value.

The Deep Freeze Bundle will also release digitally. However, there’s no option to purchase only the Deep Freeze cosmetics. Epic has confirmed to Destructoid that the digital version is only available as a bundle (just like the physical version) that will also sell for $30.

But the aim here isn’t necessarily to pull in digital sales. It’s to getFortnitein stores and in front of relatives who are doing their holiday shopping for the kids in their lives. For that reason, $30 feels like the perfect price. $40 seems just a bit too expensive, and $20 would be leaving money on the table.

As for the tangible contents of the Deep Freeze Bundle, one platform actually gets something physical inside the box. Epic has also confirmed to Destructoid that the Xbox One version comes with a disc; PlayStation 4 and Switch simply contain codes.
