Electronic Arts has come under fire from right wing Christian groups for the sin of allowing gay-friendly content in its games. A letter campaign, seemingly spearheaded by the Florida Family Association, accuses EA of corrupting children and caving to pressure from LGBT groups. EA has hit back, and in a pleasantly hard fashion.
Idiotic fundamentalists have been attacking EA for a while. Shortly afterThe Old Republicwas released, the Family Research Group said its gay contentwould “warp” children. This latest endeavor is yet another sad, soon to be failed, attempt at bullying a company into marching in lockstep with someone else’s cherry-picked religious beliefs.

The Human Rights Campaign is working on a petition to thank EA for not being a bunch of wankers (onthisissue, anyway), stating the importance of showing that the anti-gay set is a fringe group. As soon as that’s live, I’ll certainly be signing it. Even if you don’t like LGBT content, getting mad over an optional, adult, romantic liaison — thatneverhas to affect your life — is disgustingly pathetic.
