As noted by Gamble, DeMarle is no stranger to epic, dramatic, and operatic storytelling, having penned the excellentDeus Exgames for Crystal Dynamics, and the recent comic-book adventureMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. These are both titles that deal with group dynamics, friendship, politics, technology, moral turbulence, and character-based comedy — all traits that make up the emotive space opera universe ofMass Effect.
DeMarle’s new role at BioWare follows their leaving Eidos Montreal in the wake of the Embracer Group purchase. With a resume of stone-cold narrative classics, and multiple awards to their name, DeMarle is a valuable, prestigious, and highly sought-after writer. No doubt their talent for engrossing, compelling, and, most importantly, immersive storytelling will be a major ace in “Mass Effect 4‘s” sleeve.Mass Effectisits story — it always has been — and it’s comforting to know that the next chapter is in safe hands.
