While the specifics of the issue are still unclear, it seems a very significant chunk ofDestiny 2: The Final Shapehas leaked ahead of its June 4 release date. The leak is rapidly spreading all over the internet, so I advise caution if you’re spoiler-averse.
Notably, it appears that a strange issue with Sony’s PlayStation 5 streaming services allowed some users to access a pre-release build ofThe Final Shape. It doesn’t seem that there have been any major story leaks, which is good news, butthe gear has been all but entirely leakeddue to all the new stuff popping up via the Collections interface. This means that if you’d like to enjoy the process of discovery at your own pace on June 4, you’re going to want to avoid most of the usual onlineDestinydiscussion hotspots, as screenshots and videos are being posted virtually all over the place already.

Avoid the usual Destiny 2 discussion boards to steer clear of The Final Shape leaks
The particularly alarming bit, in my book, is that Raid loot seems to have leaked alongside all the usual stuff (i.e. regular DLC loot, seasonal gear, etc.), and the featured descriptionscanhelp deduce what some ofThe Final Shape‘s hotly anticipated narrative beatsmight be. Further, Raid mods, too, seem to have been spotted, and particularly well-informed and clever players could use these during the Raid Race to figure out the event’s mechanics.
This could be catastrophic forThe Final Shape‘s Raidscene. Historically,Destiny 2‘s Raid Race events have always been the highlights of their respective content releases, as they invigorate the community and bring everyone together to figure out what’s what and how the new endgame content functions in practice. Having what is practically a leaked cheat sheet around is a huge issue, especially considering justhow importantThe Final Shapeis forDestinyat large.

It doesn’tseemthat any of the actual lore and cutscenes have leaked out, thankfully. Those players who managed to accidentally access the testing server had to create an all-new character, which meant they couldn’t immediately start progressing throughThe Final Shape‘s story. Still, I recommend extreme caution if you don’t want spoilers forThe Final Shape, and the upcoming seasonal release, Echo. It’s just better to stay on the safe side of things when it comes to such situations, really.
Whatever the case may be, Bungie may decide to chime in on the situation as part of today’s TWID blog post. WithThe Final Shapecoming out next Tuesday, this leak is bound to be a hot topic for the next couple of days, so stay on your toes.
