ExcitedGrand Theft Auto VIfans are on high alert as they wait for even the smallest crumb of information about the game. Whether that’s a new trailer, development tidbits, or as happened recently, speculation about a PC release date.

During Corsair’s February 2025 earnings call, Vice President of Finance Ronald van Veen made a comment that at the time probably felt pretty innocuous, stating that we may be looking at a PC release date forGTA VIat some point in early 2026.

Of course, everyone waiting forGTA VIis rabid for information, so this turned into a bit of an internet wildfire of speculation about Corsair themselves and whether they have insider information that the rest of us aren’t privy to. Sadly, this is not the case, and we’re no closer to a general release date, let alone a PC release date.

Ina comment to IGN, a Corsair representative stated that the comment made by van Veen was purely speculative, going to say that Corsair had no word from Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive about the release date. Essentially, Ronald van Veen is in the same impatient boat as the rest of us waiting to hear anything.

Grand Theft Auto games have a history of coming to PC much later than consoles.GTA Vwas released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in September 2013, but it didn’t reach PC players until April 2015, over 18 months later. The gap between consoles and PC forGTA IVwas shorter at just eight months between releases in 2008.

When you take into account the speculative Fall 2025 release date forGTA VI, an early 2026 PC release seems hopeful at best by comparison. However, times are changing. PC is now a bigger platform than ever, and with games likeCivilization 7releasing simultaneously on consoles and PC, perhaps a shorter gap between the release ofGTA VIon consoles and PC is something we can actually hope for.

This comment from van Veen comes just days after a store in Malaysia apparently offeredGTA IVfor “pre-order”, despite having no official release date. It’s all stirred up more excitement for what is likely to end up as one of the biggest releases of the year when it eventually arrives.
