No longer in Steam Early Access

I kept seeingNEO Scavengerpop up Twitter yesterday, and now I know why: it’s just come out of early access and is now available onSteamandGOG.comfor $14.99 (Windows/Mac/Linux).

This is a turn-based survival game, and an especially harsh one at that. After waking up in a post-apocalyptic Michigan, you’ll make your way across a randomized, hex-based map.

With each passing bullet point on thedescription page, you’ll come closer to hitting “add to cart,” or closing the tab and never looking back. Your character’s metabolism matters, from hypothermia to fatigue. Death is final. There’s “complex wound simulation,” and combat has options like “Lure” and “Kick While Down.” There are no experience points; only rules and systems you’ll need to learn over many playthroughs. Also, Detroit is “one of mankind’s last bastions of safety.”

Shit’s gotten real bad, in other words. This is a particular game for a particular player.

Going forward, designer Daniel Fedorsayshe’ll work on “bug fixes and better modding support after launch, as well as looking into potential new projects. And, of course, probably a vacation.”
