About a month ago, Nvidia got the ball rolling on the next generation of PC hardware by releasing its RTX 5000 series GPUs. Things haven’t gone off to a magnificent start, it seems. Among some models missing components (admittedly, these are rare instances), there’s also supply issues.

If you’re a gamer in the UK who’s looking to upgrade their rig, you might not be in luck if you’re holding out for one of Nvidia’s newest products. According to a post on X from online retailerOverclockers UK(as spotted byPCGamesN), you could be in for a long wait if you want an RTX 5000 graphics card.

The estimated wait time for the 5070 Ti is between two and six weeks, while the 5080 is between two and three weeks. However, if the RTX 5090 is what you are after, you could be waiting for up to 16 weeks or about four months. This is for customers who have pre-ordered.

Déjà vu, is that you?

If you want to keep up to date with supplies and wait times, the best thing to do is keep an eye on theOverclockers UK blog, which has the latest information about stock. It’s not just this one retailer, either. Even theNvidia websiteitself shows that RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs are not available right now.

Other places that are sold out of the 5090 – at the time of writing – include such big retailers asNeweggandBest Buy. If this is sounding rather familiar, it’s because we’ve experienced similar issues in the past.

A few years ago, it was nigh-on impossible to get an Nvidia RTX 3000 graphics card. The ongoing pandemic/global lockdown meant people were spending a lot more time at home. As a result, more people were playing games. This was great for the industry, which experienced a boon, but not so good for people who wanted to upgrade their PCs.
