There’s no crying in baseball
Take-Two Interactive has been erasing theMLB 2Kseries from existence,Pasta Padre reports. The baseball games have been removed from2K’s website, MLB 2K10 through 2K12 have been removed from Steam, MLB 2K13’s website is gone, and so on.
When Sony teasedMLB 14: The Show, it boasted it would be the only major league baseball game available on next-gen consoles. It seems it will be the only MLB game in general (PS3, Vita, PS4).Polygon reached outto 2K and confirmed the series’ conclusion:

“We have decided not to renew ourMLB 2Kseries for 2014. We are very proud of the achievements made by theMLB 2Kteam and look forward to their contributions to our future titles, includingNBA 2K— our industry’s #1 rated and #1 selling basketball franchise.”
Given how half-assed and not goodMLB 2Kis — the slapdashMLB 2K13is basically a roster update — this isn’t bad news. Lack of competition forMLB The Showcould see that franchise fall into complacency, but Visual Concepts folding more resources intoNBA 2Kseems like the right move.
