This week, the dynamic duo work out a brand new reality show in which Rutger Hauer fights social injustice, andLittle Shop of Horrorsgets a long overdue behind-the-scenes dissection. Also, Willem Dafoe gets another movie pitch, and then there are some other things. On the videogame front, Nintendo is deemed the Silent Hill of videogames, Konami gets a dressing down, JRPGs are criticized, and certain indie developers get put in their place....

PS Vita bilinear filtering makes PSP games look better

PSP games played on the new PlayStation Vita will see a bit of a visual upgrade with the system’s bilinear filtering option. Sony Japan says that it smooths out the roughness in PSP games. I’d imagine that the big, brilliant Vita screen would show the rough edges of PSP games easily. Tapping and holding down on the Vita screen during play of a PSP game will bring up an options menu, and in there you’ll be able to select this filtering option, along with options for right analog stick use and others....

RetroforceGO! is back! New episode recording this Thursday!

When I was in school I used to dread the end of summer vacation — the night before classes started up again was always torture. As I watched the minutes tick by under the comfort of myShirt Talesbedsheets, I used to hope and pray that time would just pause forever. I must be getting old because I have never been more excited about a summer break coming to an end. Yeah, seeing Colette in a chocobo bikini was great, but I really missed recording RetroforceGO!...

Two new Razer laptops offer power and profile at a premium

Razer? I hardly even know her! Every time I see a razor blade in person I have to pick it up. Those things are dangerous and shouldn’t be left lying about. Kids could put them in their mouth or pigeons could weaponize them. Maybe mobsters will smuggle them into prisons to slice their garlic. The same thing happens when I see a Razer Blade. I try to keep tech fetishization to a minimum, but seeing a sort of pretty, svelte laptop playingSleeping Dogsat 3200 x 1800, I can’t help but be a little bit impressed....

‘Desperate Escape’ in Resident Evil 5: Alternate Edition

We’ve known aboutResident Evil 5: Alternate Editionfor awhile now, but we haven’t been clear on what exactly it includes. Now, thanks to theBBFCratings board, we know a bit more. Alternate Edition is supposed to have two new levels. One, Lost in Nightmares, has Chris and Jill back in the past, busting into Spencer’s mansion. The other we know now to be called Desperate Escape. As to what it’s about, well, you’ll have to use your imagination, as the BBFC only lists the name of the new level....

‘Togekiss watching Doduo take a crap’ and other mistaken sprites

I still struggle to see Emperor Gestahl correctly Instead of taking a proper lunch break away from my computer today, I got caught up in this funny, nostalgicNeoGAF threadabout “sprites that look like things they’re not supposed to.” Older games allowed and even encouraged us to use our imaginations to bring their lo-fidelity worlds and characters to life and, sometimes, what we saw clashed with the artists’ intent. The biggest offender for me is the dark wizard Agahnim fromA Link to the Past, illustrated above, but I’ll to admit to thinking for years that Bullet Bills inSuper Mario Bros....
