Electronic Arts has yanked a large number of official DICE and EA servers forBattlefield 3‘s multiplayer modes on PS3 and Xbox 360, leaving mostly privately rented servers in its place. For those wondering, EA’s been leasing servers out to players at $30 for thirty days. Gamers justified the move by happily signing up in droves. There are hundreds of these bought servers online, with only a handful of official free ones now available....
Keys to Kyrat PlayStation gamers will be able to invite their friends for a round of cooperative play inFar Cry 4even if said friends do not own the game. We’ve known about this for a while, but more specifics have come out of the PlayStation gamescom 2014 press conference. Far Cry 4owners will get 10 “Keys to Kyrat,” which can be sent to other players for up to two hours of co-op play in the game’s open world....

The marketing powers that be have done a good job of making you forget this is just a multiplayer expansion; they’re treating it like it’s much more. Not to discredit the work that’s been done or anything. Because, at the same time, the aesthetic changes have me forgetting this is stillBad Company 2....

Cuts could come as early as this week Microsoft is beginning its restructuring in the near future, as forecast by CEO Satya Nadella last week in an interview. The reductions will most likely be in engineering, marketing, and areas of overlap with Nokia. The restructuring, which may begin as soon as this week, may end up being the largest in Microsoft history, topping the 5,800 jobs cut in 2009. Nadella, who took over from Steve Ballmer in February of this year stated that Microsoft would need to become more focused and efficient....

New progression and customization features Mostly,Need for Speed Rivalsis all about going fast in cool cars, just like its predecessors. But this new one lets you dig down deeper to race your way with a new progression system and options for customization. You can play as racers or cops inRivals, and both sides have a progression system that has groups of themed assignments that follow different styles of gameplay. For example, you can pick the Patrol path as a cop and learn the basics, or go Undercover for different objectives that have you doing more daring things....
What will it be? Remember thatnewBorderlands 2DLCthat’s in the works? At least one of those projects will be revealed tomorrow,Randy Pitchford has announced. Details of the DLC are slim, as we don’t know whether or not future content will consist of skins, characters, or new campaigns, but we do know that it will not be included in the initial Season Pass. I think the game is pretty saturated both character- and skins-wise, so I’m hoping it’s a new piece of content as imaginative asAssault on Dragon Keep....
