Sega has announced that a stand-alone expansion forTotal War: Shogun 2is coming next year. It’s calledFall of the Samurai, and it set in the time where Western technology and steam engines pushed the age of the samurai to a close. Old meets new. This should be great. Sega says that this is a new, huge experience, featuring six new playable clans. Modern, imperial Japan will fight with the old Shogun, and they’ll both have to deal with foreign powers....

Plus Weezer Plans for this year’s Summer Game Fest are starting to come together, and they include a pretty sizeable number of companies. Today, organizer Geoff Keighley announced the kickoff date, participating partners, and more for the 2021 festivities. The action will kick off on June 10 at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT with a live show hosted by Geoff Keighley. Polishing up an old mecha With the impending release ofRainmaker Productions’ portofAssault Suit Valken: Declassified, I got the opportunity to talk with the development director of the project, Masanori Yagi, at the legendary developer M2. M2 has been in the porting business since 1993’sGauntlet IVfor the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Since then it has grown to be one of the most respected developers for porting games to new hardware. Rainmaker Productions approached M2 to portAssault Suit Valkento modern consoles with the purpose of providing a version that was re-translated and uncensored....

Mushroom Menhas had me curious since I first laid eyes upon it. There’s a really unique presentation to this game and I’m digging the concept of constructing weapons from found objects. Check out ourpreviewof the game from earlier in the year. One interesting bit that this video mentions is how Ray Harryhausen was a major inspiration in the art design. It hadn’t occurred to me until they said it (it always reminded me of Oddworld), but I can totally see it now that they bring it up....
