I’m definitely going to be keeping an eye on Master X Master

An odd MOBA I haven’t seen much talk aboutMaster X Masternearly anywhere, so when the developers contacted me out of the blue, I decided to give it a shot. Oh uh, it’s…a MOBA, by the way. Wait, where’d you go? But seriously — and take this with the qualifier that I love MOBAs — I got my hands onMaster X Masterby way of an alpha test that kicked off this week, and I’m not necessarily hooked, but intrigued....

Japan’s Osaka area airport is getting a second Pokemon store

Pokemon will outlive all of us While many parents were content with labelingPokemonas a fad, my mom was a true believer. She didn’t play the game but we watched the show together, and would smile at all of the cute animals in various stuffed animal forms. Of course we all know now that it’s not a fad, and has been a tour de force for decades, smashing our collective wallets with any sort of merchandise The Pokemon Company and Game Freak/Nintendo can muster....

Natural Doctrine is a brutal, sort of ugly turn-based strategy game

Hmm…how about we go with ‘homely’ Sure,Natural Doctrinedoesn’t look great (well, the environments; it does look better in miniature on the Vita). It’s a far cry from director Atsushi Ii’s gorgeous minimalism inPatapon. But Kadokawa Games’ first internal venture can get a pass for looking a bit dated if the core gameplay can hold up, and it just might. Producer Kensuke Tanaka felt that JRPGs were “lacking in difficulty,” that they didn’t “make you think,” NIS America representatives explained....

New screens from The Last Guardian leave me on the floor

The Last Guardianis, hands-down, my most wanted game. Not my most wanted PS3 game, mind you, but most wanted out of every game that has been announced since E3. Go watchthe traileragain, because honestly, it’s one of the best uses of your time I can come up with. Seeing these huge wallpaper-sized screens today has blown my mind in more ways than one — not only is the game graphically impressive, but the screens already hint at a relationship between boy and beast that is tugging my heartstrings....

Nicalis: Nintendo has turned things around with the eShop

I was recently blessed with the opportunity to spendan hour chatting with Tyrone Rodriguez, President of Nicalis (Cave Story+,VVVVVV 3DS). We even recorded the chat, for Dtoid’s new live stream talk show and podcast Sup Holmes. During the first episode, I accidentally cut Tyrone off right before he was going to say something really interesting. I am a dick. Luckily, in life you sometimes get do overs. This is one of those times....

Okay, we get it: Aliens: Colonial Marines will be at E3

Guys, Sega and Gearbox will be bringingAliens: Colonial Marinesto E3 next week. There, I said it. That feels good. I know this because it’s on our E3 schedule, the one I’ve personally been piecing together for our coverage of next week’s main event. And Sega apparently doesn’t want me to forget. First they send me acreepy doll, burnt doll head, a reference to Newt from theAliensfranchise. Next, we get a pretty niceprint of the USS Solacoin the mail....

Our top 10 must play games of PAX East 2014

See what our favorite games of the show were! Despite an overall smaller show than in years past, PAX East still had a great amount of games worth seeing. A big reason for that was the Indie MEGABOOTH, a segment of the show that’s slowly getting bigger with each passing trade show. In fact, a majority of team Destructoid’s time was spent looking for gems to play there than anywhere else on the show floor....
