As Jordan and I continue our trek throughGears of War: Judgment, we’re learning all sorts of things about ourselves. First off, we have absolutely no patience for robots who can’t defend themselves. Every robot should be armed with lasers capable of cutting down anything which would interrupt other, more delicate tasks. I’ve also learned that I love running with a Retro Lancer. I love it so much that you’ll probably discover that it’s the only strategy I retain from the entire experience....

EA has announced a wealth of new features for the upcomingFIFA 13, both in the gameplay and EA’s football-centered social network, Football Club. Gamers who progressed throughFIFA 12will have their stats and progress carry through intoFIFA 13and also receive bonuses in the form of kits, celebrations and other goodies. FIFA 13on iPhone, iPad and Android devices will also be able to access Football Club, and a newFIFA 13iPhone app will let you extend your gameplay....

Along withProject P-100, one of the biggest surprises at the Nintendo booth at E3 wasGame & Wario. I would have definitely been less disappointed withNintendo’s on-site press conferenceif they had made some mention of either game. Gravity Ghostis that new 2D platformer that will have people saying “Oh come on, another indie 2D platformer? Gimmie a break!” before they play it and “… actually, this is pretty darn great.” after they play it. I have a hard time imagining anyone disliking it. It’s so light, nearly completely free of demands, offering multiple types of rewards simultaneously to encourage progression without ever punishing the player too heavily. It’s like the feeling ofAnimal Crossingwith the thinking ofSuper Mario Galaxy, all with style that’s smart, charming, and personal....

It’s Sunday, and Microsoft is taking the stage to unveil everything it’s got for the future of Xbox. It’s one of the largest showcases this weekend at Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, and it’s certainly going to set the tone for Xbox moving forward into late 2024 and beyond. This showcase arrives amid a tumultuous time for Xbox as a whole. Though it’s finally secured its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Xbox has also gone through a streak of layoffs and studio closures in the last few months....

I feel so funky Slime-Sangets compared toSuper Meat Boya lot, but that’s a little like comparingEarthboundtoUndertale. They’re in the same genre, and the feel is similar, but beyond that, they’re pretty darn different.Slime-San‘s central gameplay hook comes from the ability to pass through certain objects, walls and floors. Your phasing powers also slow down time, allowing you to alter the kinetic properties of your jump. It’s a more methodical game thanSuper Meat Boy, and far less slippery....

Gearbox Entertainment was one of the companies Embracer purchased during its massive buying spree that was followed by widespread layoffs and studio closures. As reported by Kotaku, theBorderlandsmaker is poised to be sold out, and more information will be shared next month. Embracer had purchased Gearbox for $1.3 billion in 2021. However, after purchasing studios from around the world, theSwedish company released an open letterexplaining that it is aiming to become a “heavy-investment-mode to a highly cash-flow generative business,” and this will require “closing or divestments of some studios and the termination or pausing of some ongoing game development projects....

We had heard a bit about some underwater action before for upcoming gameResident Evil Revelations, but I was hoping for the best. I was hoping the water segment was some quick break from the standard action, but it sounds like the developers want to put their environmental hazards idea into place with this game, and so we’re going to have to dive in. Great. I hate water levels! Capcom revealed last week that we’ll have to hit the water in the game’s cruise ship section....

Should be over when a lot of you wake up GTA Online‘s servers are currently offline. But don’t panic, it’s not a result of dropped service or an attack or anything, it’s just regular old scheduled maintenance. It started at 5AM GMT, and is reported to last six hours in total. Hitting all the right notes with me When I first clicked on theHard WestKickstarter, there was a twinge of disappointment that this wasn’t a game about Kanye. I got over it quick, though. I like Westerns, and I like all the reference points this video was making:XCOM, David Lynch, Stephen King,No Country For Old Men. Surprised there’s noHigh Plains Drifternote, especially given the intruding nightmare bits. And the mechanic with the sun (particularly casting long shadows to give away position) is real neat....
