Thumbs-on with this thrilling throwback PAX this year was a little strange for me. I was brought on to Destructoid just as the deadline to apply for media badges expired, so I went to the show as a regular attendee, and didn’t take appointments like Brett and Jordan did. I still wanted to help out where I could though, so Brett recommended that I spend some time checking out independent games no one had appointments for in the Indie Megabooth and elsewhere on the show floor....

The artists took sound samples directly from the SNES game to create something new yet still nostalgic and inviting....

Why do I get all the games with long names? Slightly odd to call this an “announcement” trailer since we’ve known about this game for some time, but it’s the first one I suppose. Electronic beats jazz over a first glimpse at gameplay and environments. Digital worlds and electronic music combos may be as cliche as that “Yooo!” sound effect in Japan-themed settings, but its one I’ll never tire of. It’s just cool....

Sick Wyald, the sadistic creature fromBerserk, will bemaking an appearance in the newMusougame(now titledBerserk and the Band of the Hawk). You can get a look at his moveset above, which seems to take the “wacky”Musouroute, with rolling attacks and belly flops. Except, you know, he has a giant mouth in the middle of his chest when he transforms, and there’s blood splattering everywhere. Some folks are upset that Wyald is in, as he takes up a slot for another Apostle or playable character (going on what we’ve seen so far, this might be it as far as the cast goes), but based on this video I’ll be giving him a go....

Amazon promises seamless purchasing, meaning you’ll buy currency directly without the need to for extra unlock codes. The potential to make microstransactions so easily will doubtless make them that much more attractive....

More maps are coming your way, premium Call of Duty Elite members. (If you’re gaming on an Xbox 360, that is). The content season calendarhas been updatedto reflect that “Overwatch” is due out Tuesday, February 21. For PlayStation 3 users, it’s unsurprisingly marked down as “coming soon.” The first Elite multiplayer maps “Liberation” and “Piazza” are currently available to Xbox Live players and are coming to PlayStation Network on February 28....

One of the best parts of Rocksteady’sArkhamseries is how expertly the games exploitedBatman‘s greatest asset — the greatest rogue’s gallery in all of comic books. Many of Batman’s opponents are as enthralling, if not moreso, than Bruce Wayne himself, and Rocksteady knew it. From iconic nemeses such as The Joker and Scarecrow to lesser known criminals including The Mad Hatter and Deadshot, Rocksteady scoured the inmates of Blackgate Prison and Arkham Asylum to consistently surprise fans with a cavalcade of psychopaths and gangsters....

Same fight, new locations The first add-on forBlack Ops IIhas finally made its way to PlayStation 3 and PC. The DLC, titledRevolution, was a timed-exclusive for Xbox 360 and released in January 2013. Available for $15,Revolutionfeatures four new multiplayer maps, a Zombies map, and a new Zombies mode called “Turned.” The map locations include a hydroelectric dam, a skate park, a ski resort, and the Gobi Desert. The Zombies map is called “Die Rise” and takes place in a Chinese city among a maze of destroyed skyscrapers....

Make Them Pray Bandai Namco has released the debut trailer for their upcoming MMORPG,Bless Unleashed,coming first to Xbox One in early 2019. The 90-second spot features a troupe of brave fantasy types as they journey through mystical lands and stand toe-to-toe with huge creatures and monsters.Bless Unleashedpromises an “open persistent world” powered by a “rich backstory”. Namco Bandai have stated thatBless Unleashedhas been built from the ground up – by developers Neowiz and Round 8 Studio – with console gameplay in mind, and will feature intense, combo-driven gameplay for both PvE and PvP action....

The fine print says five months PlayStation VR has had its share of timed exclusives, and next month’sBorderlands 2 VRis about to be the latest. The single-player loot-grinding shooter debuts on July 24, 2025. As spotted in a recent trailer, the game will be tied down to PlayStation VR for “a minimum of five months from launch.” After that point, we should see a PC port. Then the modding begins....
