What are your favorite video game intros of all time?

Don’t press start! This is the best bit! As noted in the past,I’m a mark for movie trailers. I have a collection of a good few thousand previews, pulled from the hype-hysteria of yesteryear, before the art was lost in a painful tidal wave of cookie-cutter, focus-tested banality. I’m not quite sure what brought about my love of these three-minute marvels. I guess I’m just a fan of the pulse-pounding, goosebump-inducing excitement that a masterful editor can induce in such a short space of time....

Xeodrifter has more room to breathe on Wii U

No frills port, no complaints Xeodrifterstands among a proud line of games werecommended toMetroidfanswho were disappointed with the ideaMetroid Prime: Federation Force, and now it’s coming to Wii U next week. Strap one on, it’s time to jam! For San Diego Comic-Con, Insomniac Games is talking up character customization inSunset Overdriveand the clothing options range from “traditional” to “out there” — way, way out there. Interestingly, these vanity items don’t have stat bonuses or anything of the sort attached to them in an effort to let players be who they want to be, worry free. I appreciate that. Sunset Overdriveis out October 28 exclusively on Xbox One....

A few quick tips for New Pokemon Snap’s launch weekend

Swap those buttons and crank up the sensitivity A newPokémon Snapgame is out today, a sentence I am still honestly surprised I’m typing in the year 2021. The first was a one-off spin-off on the Nintendo 64, a quirky game that let you photograph Pokémon instead of capturing and battling them. The firstSnapstill became something of a nostalgic classic and now, two decades later,New Pokémon Snaphas hit the Nintendo Switch. It isPokémon Snapas you remember it, albeit with a few notable changes....

Black Ops II reinvents the multiplayer experience

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIbroke retail recordsa mere 24 hours after the publicdebut of the single-player campaign. An impressive feat, considering that multiplayer, the franchise’s bread and butter, wasn’t even shown off untiljust a week ago. It’s a good thing for fans that Treyarch isn’t a studio who would just settle for minor refinements, then. They very well could have, but instead, the team has rebuilt the multiplayer system so much that you would be forgiven for thinking they’re insane....

E3 09: Tatsunoko Vs Capcom video interview

Got a butt-kicking interview here with Capcom’s Seth Killian on the development and localization ofTatsunoko Vs Capcom, and a little bonus stuff withNapoleon Dynamite‘s Jon Heder at the end. I’m still pissed/jealous that Heder got aT Vs Cshirt and I didn’t, and when you hear how into the game he is, you’ll understand why. Oh, and a little bonus tidbit; Seth told me off camera that it’s not impossible for the 2-3 additional Capcom characters that may (or may not) make there way into the Western release ofT Vs Cto be decided via an online poll....
